Just a Preview for Sunday's (7pm ET) Afronerd Radio Broadcast-Educator, Garrard McClendon Stops by to "Ax or Ask!"

I must confess, I am really excited about this particular interview. We have been trying to schedule a sit down with Mr. McClendon for quite some time and again, his efforts are to be applauded. For those unfamiliar with Garrard McClendon, I think it's safe to say that he received a great deal of recent notoriety centering around his book, Ax or Ask? The African American Guide to Better English. I have referenced McClendon a few times throughout this blog's journey because Mr. Starks and I (in the vein of Drs. Cosby and Poussaint) are sticklers for communities of color to embrace the need to speak Standard American English (SAE, for the uninitiated). African American Vernacular English (AAVE) or Black English has its cultural place and significance but being able to speak the King's English is paramount, if one (irrespective of color or nationality) is to progress in this society. But you guys know this.....just listen to your president. Remember to mark your calendars for this Sunday at 7pm eastern.

And for your further edification, take a gander at this brief snippet from a PBS documentary entitled, Do You Speak American?-
