Being Conservative doesn't mean I can't be Accurate!

The above clip of a recent Hannity & Colmes show in which fellow conservative blogger, Erik Rush (erikrush.com) is being interviewed really bothers me. It's his inaccuracy that is most troublesome. Rush also made the rounds last night on an episode of Paula Zahn's nightly political gabfest, Out in the Open regarding the same issue de jour, Obama's Too Black Church. Let me state for the record, that in my almighty analytical wisdom, I'm not fond of any church that naturally practices separatism. Perhaps a church's separatist agenda is propogated out of a sense of necessity or comfort-one can theorize until the cows come home, but at the end of the day, a house of worship is supposed to be above petty racial enmity. But in the cause for greater accuracy in reporting, both programs are severly lacking. These shows, like so many other likeminded media fare, are less about the search for the truth and more concerned for ratings, shouting matches and getting in the vaunted soundbite.

Obama's church, the Trinity United Church of Christ (which the media are attempting to make Obama literally guilty by association) espouses a 12 point Black value system. Mr. Rush's beef is that this value system is inherently racist, especially if one were to transpose "Black" for "White" in the description of the church's tenets. Where Rush is incorrect, is simply Black as a matter of semantics is used differently than White. Very few White people self-identify themselves as such, simply because they have options. Black refers to culture, color and consciousness-hence, Black music, Black colleges, Black culture, Blaxploitation (films), etc. A White person might state that he or she is Italian or Jewish or Irish before he states his racial category. Black is an all encompasing term with a cultural designation notwithstanding. In my book, everyone should worship beyond racial categorization because.....well, it is church. But let's not single out Obama's church, when 90% of the houses of worship (of all racial and ethnic strata) practice de facto segregation. Accuracy folks. Accuracy! Take a look at Rush's supposition below:
